Stockport 8

An 8‑acre site that will become a new digitally enabled, walkable neighbourhood

Stockport 8

Overview

Stockport 8 is one of the UK’s largest town‑centre regeneration projects, transforming an 8‑acre site into a new, walkable neighbourhood delivering around 1,300 high‑quality homes alongside public spaces, commercial uses and improved connections across the town.

  • Eight acre neighbourhood
  • 1,300 energy-efficient homes
  • Viaduct Square designed to host events

About the development

Located next to Stockport’s historic railway viaduct, Stockport 8 forms a key part of the wider Town Centre West masterplan. The neighbourhood is a major element of a £1bn long‑term vision to create a more sustainable and liveable town centre, converting underused brownfield land into a thriving residential community supported by green spaces, pedestrian routes, cycle links and new amenities. Planning permission was granted in August 2025, and the project is being delivered by The Stockport 8 LLP. a partnership between Stockport Council and the English Cities Fund (Homes England, Legal & General and Muse).

Vision

Stockport 8 is designed to create a distinctively Stockport neighbourhood –  green, walkable, community‑focused and built around heritage, sustainability and inclusive growth. It plays a central role in delivering up to 4,000 new homes and over 1 million sq ft of employment space as part of Stockport MDC’s long‑term masterplan for Town Centre West.
