Weir Mill is being transformed by Capital&Centric into a landmark new neighbourhood

Weir Mill

Overview

Weir Mill is being transformed by Capital&Centric into a landmark new neighbourhood, combining the restoration of the Grade IIlisted mill buildings with striking newbuild elements to create 253 riverside homes, new public spaces, and a vibrant hub of independent food, drink and leisure operators. Sitting alongside the River Mersey and beneath the iconic Stockport viaduct, the scheme is a flagship project within Stockport’s £1bn regeneration programme.

  • 10 waterside commercial units
  • 253 homes
  • Two public squares

About the development

The redevelopment of Weir Mill is unlocking one of Stockport’s most historic industrial sites and reimagining it as a lively, characterpacked destination. At its heart will be Weaver’s Square, a major new public square featuring live music, streetfood pop-ups, parties, markets and al fresco dining, surrounded by up to 10 independent bars, restaurants and cafés under the viaduct arches. The restored wheelhouse and mill structures will also provide resident amenities including coworking areas, a lounge, gym and rooftop spaces.

Vision

The commercial space spans two units at street level – a larger two-storey space and a self-contained unit with glass front onto the A6 suitable as a restaurant or retail space. The residential scheme is being aimed at young professionals, offering more space and competitive rent compared with comparable developments in Manchester City Centre, but with the same connectivity: The Mailbox is just a 2-minute walk to both the train and bus stations.
