The development includes 196 highquality apartments with direct access from Wellington Road South and forms a key part of the UK’s largest towncentre regeneration programme. The new Interchange strengthens Stockport’s position as one of the bestconnected town centres in the North West and supports the growing emphasis on sustainable travel.

  • Rooftop park – the first of its kind in Europe
  • 196 homes
  • Metrolink ready

About the development

This landmark scheme features a twoacre rooftop park, the first of its kind in Europe, sitting above the new bus interchange and creating green public space in the heart of the town. The development opens up access to the River Mersey, introducing new, attractive riverside public areas. A new 180metre pedestrian and cycle bridge seamlessly connects the interchange with Stockport Railway Station and the expanding business district at Stockport Exchange, strengthening walking and cycling links across the town centre.

Vision

The commercial space spans two units at street level – a larger two-storey space and a self-contained unit with glass front onto the A6 suitable as a restaurant or retail space. The residential scheme is being aimed at young professionals, offering more space and competitive rent compared with comparable developments in Manchester City Centre, but with the same connectivity: The Mailbox is just a 2-minute walk to both the train and bus stations.
